And then there were zipties...

So...We have had this weekend planned for a couple on months. We had reservations in Torrey, Utah to attend the 2nd annual Red Rock Womens Festival (basically a big bull dyke lesbian concert in the mountains). We were faced with a decision once our softball team got spanked in our first tournament game last week( it is a double elimination), which resulted in us playing today at Noon. So...after hours of discussion and a few guilt trips by our teammates, we decided to stay around home for todays game. We figured that we would be able to plan something fun to do in place of the weekend in Torrey. What of course was our first thought?? Another attempt at fishing!

We headed out Friday morning about 10, back to Smith and Morehouse and arrived around noon. We cast our lines, and waited....and waited...and drank another beer....and waited...nothing! Finally after about 3 hours at the lake, Ryann was able to make the first catch! About ten minutes later...Ginny said that her pole had broken! So, we decided to pack things up and head over to Ginny's parents cabin and see if her dad could help us out with fixing her pole. We had done a small repair job at the lake, nothing a few band-aids couldn't fix!
After arriving at the cabin, we gave the poles to her dad. We explained how the zip tie that was holding Ginny's reel to her pole had broken and we needed a replacement zip tie so we could remove the band-aids and reattach the reel. He very inquisitively looked at the pole and said, "This pole is not broken, you just needed to twist this here", as he is showing Ginny the twist lock feature on the pole that hold the reel to the rod. We all busted out laughing not realizing how much we really don't know about fishing! It said right on the rod "twist-lock", but why in the hell would we read that!

Anyways, we ended up only cathing 2 fish this trip, but it as super fun!!

So that is hilarious! I always like fishing, other then once I catch them I realize it is kind of mean especially since I won't eat them and the whole catch and release thing never seems to work.

Um...ya, I agree. We are working on perfecting our catch and release skills, but it is not easy! We are going again this weekend, so we will see how it goes.
